Wear Solid Colors. Colors that photograph best are medium to dark tones of green, brown, burgundy, or blue. Black also works very well for portraits.
Avoid:
White tops
Plaids
Stripes
Checks
Bold prints
Extremely bright colors
Light colors that are close your skin tone,
All of these colors distract the interest away from the face.
Don't try a new hairstyle just for your photos, if you have your hair cut, wait another week before your appointment.
TIPS FOR GREAT PORTRAITS
FOR GIRLS:
Avoid: tank tops, spaghetti strap, or sleeveless tops. Bare shoulders tend to make you look heavier in a photo.
Long sleeves are preferred, they will keep the eye from being drawn to the flesh of the arm which creates a slimming look.
Makeup can affect the way your portraits look. Both fresh natural makeup and evening makeup photograph well.
For Boys:
A fresh shave is a must. If you have a beard or mustache, make sure it is trimmed to your liking.
For Young Children and Babies:
Choose a time of day that is best for your child's schedule.
Be sure to have a cloth for drool or spit up, a brush, an extra diaper and a few toys or a favorite blanket
The day before the portrait sitting try your child's clothes on them to be sure they fit properly.
Please be prepared if the photographer asks you to be a part of your child's portrait, so please come well groomed. If it is a baby the photographer may take photos of the child's hands in yours, etc.
