Wear Solid Colors. Colors that photograph best are medium to
dark tones of green, brown, burgundy, or blue. Black also works
very well for portraits.

Avoid:
  • White tops
  • Plaids
  • Stripes
  • Checks
  • Bold prints
  • Extremely bright colors
  • Light colors that are close your skin tone,
All of these colors distract the interest away from the face.

Don't try a new hairstyle just for your photos, if you have your
hair cut, wait another week before your appointment.

FOR GIRLS:
  • Avoid: tank tops, spaghetti strap, or
sleeveless tops. Bare shoulders  tend to
make you look heavier in a photo.

  • Long sleeves are preferred, they will keep
the eye from being drawn to the flesh of
the arm which creates a slimming look.

  • Makeup can affect the way your portraits
look.  Both fresh natural makeup and
    evening makeup photograph well.

For Boys:
  • A fresh shave is a must.  If you have a
beard or mustache, make sure it is trimmed
    to your liking.

For Young Children and Babies:

  • Choose a time of day that is best for your
    child's schedule.

  • Be sure to have a cloth for drool or spit up,
a brush, an extra diaper and a few toys or
    a favorite blanket

  • The day before the portrait sitting try your
child's clothes on them to be sure they fit
    properly.

  • Please be prepared if the photographer
asks you to be a part of your child's
portrait, so please come well groomed.  If it
is a baby the photographer may take
photos of the child's hands in yours, etc.
